For Tai Ping, I photographed the twelve-piece Overlay Collection on location at The Somerset House, creating a series of styled, full-frame, and detail images for the brand.
Inspired by the layered surfaces and handcrafted imperfections of traditional stucco, the collection relies on subtle shifts in pile height, directional tufting, color, and material to create its character. My approach focused on preserving those nuanced textures and tonal relationships while moving between controlled product views and more atmospheric interior settings.
Working closely with the Tai Ping team, I developed a consistent approach to lighting, framing, and color that allowed the rugs to read accurately as objects while also showing how naturally they inhabit a space. The resulting body of work balances material precision with the warmth and dimensionality that define the Overlay Collection.
